“Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night…God made two great lights – the greater light to have dominion over the day and the lesser light to have dominion over the night – as well as the stars. God placed them in the expanse of the sky to provide light on the earth, to dominate the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:14-18
One of my most favorite things about God’s creation is the sky! I love the stars and I love love love sunrises and sunsets! I can admire the beauty of all it and it would never get old.
I got to spend the weekend at my aunt and uncle’s new lake house this weekend. It was so good. My parents were there, another one of my aunt’s and a few of my cousins got to come as well! It was what I would call a perfect weekend! We didn’t do anything special. We just spent time together. We helped clean in and around the house, raked a ton of leaves, cut down limbs (in more ways than one…inside joke that I might share😉), played games, had a campfire, watched Georgia get rocked by Auburn (sorry Meggers 😘), and we laughed a whole bunch!!! On Friday night we got to sit down on the dock by the water and made a fire in their fire pit. We just talked, shared stories, and laughed. At one point when the fire got really dim, the stars were shining brilliantly!! It was absolutely incredible!! And the first thing that came to my mind was, how can anyone look at this sky full of a bazillion stars and not believe in our Creator?!
For someone that grew up in church and has always known a life with God in the midst, of course it will be hard to comprehend that thought. I have met a few people in my life that don’t believe in anything. I met a girl one time that believed in Satan and hell, but not in God and heaven. Tell me how that works?! I have a friend that just can’t comprehend that kind of faith. Creation, eternity, miracles that Jesus performed, etc. The easiest example for me to give would be the wind. And this takes me back to the movie “A Walk to Remember”. I had a major crush on Shane West! Ha! And if you don’t understand that reference then disregard. Anyway, faith is like the wind. I can’t see it, but I can feel it. No, I can’t physically see God, but I can feel his presence. I feel His spirit, the Holy Spirit, constantly surrounding me. It is a peace that overwhelms! There is no physical form to the wind, but you can see it blowing the leaves of the trees. I can attest to the wind because I get a great wind-blown look when it blows hard enough! I see the Lord’s work as well! I see a different and glorious painting in the sky every single day! I see so many stars in the sky and my God knows the name of every one! I️ see babies being born which is a miracle in itself. Just look at the human body!! Do you realize how complex and amazing our bodies work? I was googling facts about our bodies and how our brains work and we are truly a masterpiece that someone created! And not just anyone, my God did! We didn’t appear out of thin air or from a big bang. We were formed! You were knit together!! And there are billions of people in the world and my God knows each and every detail about all of us because He made us!! Wow!
Yes I have faith that God is real, but I also have faith because I see God’s workmanship every single day that I wake up and walk out the door. And in a world that is so jacked up and will only get worse and God being the only thing that can save us, He is who I cling to. When I don’t understand why my prayers aren’t being answered when I want them to be, He is who I cling to. Because He knows what is best for me and I have to believe that He has something great in store for me! Because He is good! He is perfect! He is masterful! He is beautiful! He is Creator! He is Omnipotent (all powerful)!! He is Omniscient (all knowing)!! He is Omnipresent (he is everywhere)!! HE IS I AM!!!!
Lord, how magnificent You are! Praise God that my thoughts are not Your thoughts, and my ways are not Your ways. Thank you for being real in my life. Thank you for constantly showing me that You are the One True God!! Thank you for Your miracles and thank you for the miracles that You still make today!! Thank you for creation! And thank you for the SKY!!
I love you Lord!!!
